This past weekend I had the pleasure of exploring a set of abandoned train tracks full of rotting old streetcars. The place actually was (is?) a legit streetcar restoration business but they don't seem to be doing much restoring anymore. The tracks head back almost a mile into the woods and damn if it isn't amazing.
I shot three rolls of film there, one black and white and two color. And one of the color ones fell out of my bag at some point during the trip. D'oh! I'm hoping to go back again some other time not only to shoot more but also to try and find my lost film- it's in the canister so it should handle the weather just fine.
Last night I developed the B&W film. Haven't really gone through the photos much, haven't had time, but I did dump the scans onto my thumb drive this morning so I could take a quick peek at them during a break at work. A few highlights:
Once I get a chance to look at these on my own computer I'll probably have more. The screen on my work computer totally freaking sucks and most of the photos I got look like crap. Contrast looks all wonky, they all look horribly washed out and flat, but once I get a chance to look at them on my Mac I'm sure they'll be just fine.
And who knows, maybe in a few weeks I'll be able to develop the color ones once we get a chance to order more chemicals (B&W and color films use different chemistry, and we're currently out of color chem).
One last note... sorry if I sound like a dick, but I will not share the details of this spot's location. It's privately owned, the owner does regularly spend time onsite, and if you visit here you will be trespassing. It's also completely untouched by vandals and scrappers and my biggest fear is it being trashed if the location goes public.
